Heart
Dissolving heart stent passes first major trial (article)
The quest for successful dissolving heart stents has kept scientists busy over the past few years. In Australia, a female patient in Fremantle Hospital received the first dissolving implant in 2012. She was successfully implanted with a lattice-like stent made of polylactide, a material derived from corn starch, which is meant to go away in two years. Fremantle Hospital was among the first medical centres to get Therapeutic Goods Administration approval to use the stents.

Stony Brook Heart Institute Evaluates First Dissolvable Stent
A unique aspect of the BVS stent is that it is made of polylactide, a naturally dissolvable material derived from products like corn starch, which is commonly used in medical implants such as dissolving sutures. After the drug-eluting stent dissolves only two pairs of tiny metallic markers are left behind to enable a physician to identify where the device was implanted.

Sutures
Silhouette Soft
Unlike other existing threads, Silhouette Soft is made out of a natural component: Polylactic acid, which is derived from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugarcane.

The Silhouette Soft suture is made of a clear resorbable material and includes 8 absorbable cones which are positioned on the suture and separated by knots. There are four cones on each half of the suture. Each series of cones faces the opposite direction and points towards the end of the suture, hence the term “bidirectional”.

Healing Bones
Biodegradable implant to help heal broken bones (article)
A plastic derived from corn starch combined with a volcanic ash compound could help heal the bones of hundreds of thousands of patients with orthopaedic injuries who need bone replacement, scientists, including one of Indian-origin, have found.

Healling Bones
The magic implant that heals bones - then disappears: Plastic mimics structure of bone to help with delayed healing (article)
The dissolving implant should mean patients don't need further surgery once it is inserted. It is made from corn starch and a type of volcanic ash clay and is injected with carbon dioxide gas bubbles.

The resulting material is rigid but looks like foam, similar to the structure of bone.

Medical Devices
Ioresorbable Vascular Scaffold
"The new heart-opening design, created by Abbott, is known by the tongue-twisting name "bioresorbable vascular scaffold" (or, more simply, BVS). It promises to improve on metal stents, which usually last so long that they start causing health problems of their own.

Corn-based plastics are more and more common in big, fast-moving items such as biodegradable food packaging and even toys and sky boots. But the new BVS design is tiny enough to fit in an artery--and proof of how far bio-plastics have come."

Medical Glove Powder Report (article)
Medical Glove Powder Report
"For the purposes of this document, total particulate matter [glove powder] includes dusting or donning powders, mold-release compounds, and manufacturing debris. Dry lubricants such as cornstarch, silicone etc., are used to make donning gloves easier and to prevent gloves from sticking together during the manufacturing process. Cornstarch, which meets the specification for absorbable dusting powder in the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP), is the most common lubricant for patient examination gloves".

  3. Muhammad Amir the gloves are treated with cornstarch, a real danger for the corn allergic. Why include a link to Auoclave, is this a danger for the corn allergic? Did you miss the point of this post?

Life Coaching your link that you posted in your comment also does not have information on corn allergy, or contents. Did you miss the point of this post as well?
